Religious Studies Curriculum intent

At Ark Victoria, all pupils will learn to think theologically and philosophically by developing their enquiry skills through the study of major world religious traditions and world views. We aim to encourage our students to be independent, critical and analytical thinkers through this discipline in order to deepen their awareness and understanding of themselves, their communities and the world in which they live in. We want our students to appreciate, embrace and celebrate diversity within our society and how through the study of RE, they can understand the importance of the subject and what it has to offer in preparing them to be active citizens in the world. All in all, the purpose of learning in RE, offers students an engagement with the belief systems which have shaped the world and something of their historical and social contexts. They encounter and learn to cope with moral and ideological diversity. They learn to think.
