Year 10 Creative I-Media
Summer 1
Visual identity and digital graphics
This half term, student will be finishing off the digital graphics unit which will consist of the following -
- Purpose, features, elements, and design of visual identity
- Graphic design concepts and conventions
- Properties of digital graphics and use of assets
A wide range of skills and techniques will be taught to the pupils such as using the office suite, evaluating the visual identity of images and creation of new pre-production documents in relation to digital design.
The unit is worth 25% of the course and is entirely coursework and is worth a total of 50 marks out of 190.
How can parents get involved:
- Discuss how creative media products are involved in all industries. (Video games, social media, music etc)
- Ensure that pupils are up to date with all coursework and attend all intervention sessions.
Spring 2
R082: Creating digital graphics
The aim of this unit is for pupils to understand the basics of digital graphics editing for the creative and digital media sector. They will learn where and why digital graphics are used and what techniques are involved in their creation. This unit will develop learners’ understanding of the client brief, time frames, deadlines, and preparation techniques as part of the planning and creation process.
Planning is an essential part of working in the creative and digital media sector. This unit will enable pupils to acquire the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to create digital media products and gain an understanding of their application.
How parents can get involved:
- Discuss how creative media products are designed and created in all industries
- What is a pre-production document?
- Ask your child what key planning goes into creating a digital media product.

R081: Pre-production skills
This unit will enable pupils to understand pre-production skills used in the creative and digital media sector. It will develop their understanding of the client brief, time frames, deadlines and preparation techniques that form part of the planning and creation process.

Autumn 1
R082 – Creating digital Graphics
In this unit, students are focussing on the planning and creation of a digital graphic for the local area. Students will be working with advanced media creation tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Office applications to create a wide range of graphics.
