Welcome to our FAQ section about Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium (PP). Here you'll find answers to common questions and testimonials from parents who have benefited from these programs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are Free School Meals (FSM)?
Free School Meals are provided by the government to support families who are on certain benefits. If your child qualifies, they’ll receive a free, healthy meal at school every day.
What is Pupil Premium (PP)?
Pupil Premium is extra funding the school receives for every child who qualifies for Free School Meals or has in the past six years. It helps us provide more support, resources, and opportunities for your child.
Who is eligible?
If you receive benefits like Universal Credit, Income Support, or Jobseeker’s Allowance, your child may be eligible. Also, children in care or with a parent in the armed forces can qualify.
Why should I apply if my child already gets Universal Infant Free School Meals?
Even if your child gets a free meal in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, applying for FSM means the school gets extra funding to support your child’s learning — and that support continues as they move up the school.
How do I apply?
You can apply online through the council’s website, or we can help you fill out a paper form here at school. It only takes a few minutes, and we’re happy to support you.
Is it confidential?
Yes, completely. No one else will know your child is receiving Free School Meals. It’s handled discreetly and respectfully.
What does the school use the funding for?
We use it for things like extra teaching support, learning resources, subsidised trips, and sometimes help with uniform or clubs. It’s all about giving your child the best chance to succeed.
