Why do we learn business studies?

Business Intent

The Business Studies curriculum, plans to prepare the pupils for the economic, digital, fast-paced world they live in. Business Studies is a subject which draws, develops, and implements a range of different disciplines, including mathematics, science, engineering, geography and art. The subject embeds high quality literacy skills through analysis and evaluation techniques.

Aims of Our Business Studies Curriculum:

The Ark Victoria Academy Business Studies curriculum aims to inspire the pupils to understand the ten key concepts:

At Ark Victoria, Business Studies aims to inspire students to understand ten key concepts which will allow them to become better prepared for the economic, digital and face paced world that they live in.

The first concept is to understand the importance of enterprise and entrepreneurship, making human resource decisions and how to grow a business through a variety of case studies. Students will be exposed to entrepreneurial values and understand the risks and rewards involved with creating a business.

Students will develop their ability to spot a new business opportunity and making operating decisions by investigating and analysing real business opportunities and issues to construct well-evidenced and balanced arguments.

Our curriculum enables students to have the ability to put a business idea into practice and make financial decisions by developing and applying quantitative skills relevant to business, including using and interpreting data.

Students will understand how to make a business more effective and marketing decisions by appreciating a wide view of how businesses operate in a multicultural society, which will allow them to be more reflective thinkers.

Lastly, students will understand how external influences can affect a business by expressing their opinions on topics such as unemployment, tax, inflation and interest rates.
