British Values and Protected Characteristics at Ark Victoria
Ark Victoria Academy supports the British Values and Protected characteristics of all citizens. Within lessons, students will notice these symbols when they are learning about a Protected Characteristic or a British Value.
Not only do we look to promote equality but also look to educate students on the value of being kind, respectful and tolerant.

Why do we learn personal development?
Personal Development Curriculum Intent
Through the personal development curriculum, all pupils leave Ark Victoria Academy with a broad and diverse knowledge of moral, social and cultural issues as well as knowing how they can positively contribute to the wider community. Our curriculum enables students to explore and develop their understanding of British values within a wide range of topics in addition to exploring the importance and impact of current affairs. The personal development curriculum also develops pupils’ ambition and independence, as well as fostering resilience, respect and kindness
Aims of Our Personal Development Curriculum
The Ark Victoria Academy personal development curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils:
-
develop their personal character and sense of morality so that they gain the practical wisdom to be virtue literate and are able to lead happy, healthy, fulfilled lives, contributing positively to society
-

-
develop a deep understanding of defining features of British citizenship such as British values and awareness of legislation that promotes equality in modern Britain
-
acquire a broad general knowledge of and respect for public institutions and services in Britain
-
